Who Am I?

This website is operated by Ryan Hellyer, Friedrichstraße 155, 10117 Berlin, Germany. You can find contact details on the Legal Notice page.

What “Personal Data” I Collect and Why I Collect It

Since we are all participating in this exercise of transparency, here is the riveting rundown of what this site actually processes.

Account Registration and Administration

If you register for an account, we process the name, email address, password, authentication information, and related account records you provide. This exists so the site can authenticate users and restrict event administration features to authorised administrators. Passwords are stored in hashed form rather than as readable passwords, because even this website has some standards.

Join the Grid

The Join the Grid form asks for your name, email address, telephone number, and experience level. Submissions are stored in the site’s database to allow the organisers to contact applicants about the championship and to manage applications. Details of new applications may also be sent to an associated Telegram channel so the organisers can review them.

Cookies

Yes, we use cookies. It is apparently impossible to operate a website without them.

The application uses necessary session and security cookies, including cookies used for authentication, maintaining sessions, and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery. These cookies are required for parts of the site to function and are not used to build an advertising profile.

Server Logs and Analytics

Like most websites, the server and hosting infrastructure may process technical request data such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and requested URLs in security and access logs. This is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.

The site may also collect basic technical load-time statistics through its production statistics package. This is not intended to identify you personally. It is mostly there to tell us whether the site is moving at a reasonable speed.

Links to Other Websites

Pages contain links and integrations involving external services such as Google Calendar and Telegram, for example the add-to-calendar buttons and the championship Telegram channel. Following those links behaves in much the same way as if you had visited the other website directly. Those services may collect data, use their own cookies, and monitor your interaction with their content. Consider yourself warned.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell personal data. Personal data may be processed by hosting, infrastructure, authentication, security, and other service providers where necessary to operate the website. External services linked or embedded on the site process data under their own policies.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Account information and administration records are retained for as long as the account or records are needed for the operation of the championship. Session data expires according to the application configuration. Technical logs and statistics are retained according to the hosting and application systems used.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of personal data relating to you. You may also object to processing or request data portability where those rights apply.

Considering the scope of this site, you will probably receive a fairly short reply, but the request still stands. Important note: this does not cover data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Data may be processed by the hosting and infrastructure providers required to deliver this site. External websites and services linked or embedded here may process data in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies, including outside the European Economic Area.

My Contact Information

If you want to exercise your rights or ask a privacy question, contact the website operator at ryan@hellyer.kiwi or use the contact details in the Legal Notice.

Complaints

You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority if you believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully. The relevant authority depends on your place of residence, place of work, or the location of the alleged infringement.
